I should have posted these pictures and words months ago when Devin and Dylan wed at the beautiful Ten Roc Ranch in Salado… but the weight of these moments always tripped me up from pressing publish.
You see, we grow close with all our brides and grooms and love them ALL dearly (for real, guys! We have be best brides and grooms out there!), but Devin I’ve known and loved since she was a pre-schooler. My family moved to Central Texas when I was a freshman in high school. It was tough at first, like all moves are, but eventually we made our home here and became part of the community. Vital to that process was Devin’s family. Devin’s mom was one of my teachers in school, and I babysat Devin and her siblings for four years. She and my mom became fast friends, and her family became an extension of my own. When it came time for prom dress shopping, it was my mom and Devin’s mom who road tripped with me to shop in Austin. When I got married, it was Dev’s mom and other dear friends who joined with my parents and did the work–physically and emotionally–to get us to the finish line.
I claim them as my own.
So, to watch and document Devin’s marriage to Dylan, well, it was more than an honor, it was a treasured moment… because, I remember what she felt like as a 5 year old, head on my shoulder as we read a book. I remember her little girl laugh and macaroni and cheese for dinner and playing in the backyard with her brother and sister, and the blond ponytail bouncing as she did tricks. She’s my people.
And, now she was grown… oh and so gorgeous.
And her groom… his family are just the very best. Couldn’t be better.
It was a beautiful day.
We love you, Devin & Dylan!
